Vintage USS Sproston DD-577 Hozan China Yokohama Japan Ashtray 1960s

Pristine used condition - bright white and clean, does have wear on bottom from sitting. Appears to be unused. Maker's mark is fading a little. It is marked Hozan China Yokohama on the back.

This ashtray is a real gem. It is from the 1960s and commemorates the USS Sproston DD-577 which was a Fletcher-class destroyer of the United States Navy. She was the second ship named for US Naval Lieutenant John G. Sproston, who was killed in action while leading an attack on a Confederate ironclad during the American Civil War. The USS Sproston was reverted to DD-577 on June 30, 1962.
